Inspiration
The inspiration for WELP came from the need to improve women's safety in various environments, especially while traveling alone or in unfamiliar places. We aimed to create a comprehensive solution that uses technology to provide real-time protection and peace of mind.
What it does
WELP is a mobile app that enhances women's safety by offering real-time location tracking, personalized safety plans, SOS alerts, and smart watch integration. It provides users with tools to monitor their surroundings, alert emergency contacts in distress, and ensure safe travel.
How we built it
We built WELP using a combination of advanced technologies including GPS, motion sensors, and real-time data analysis. The app integrates with smart devices to collect health data and uses a user-friendly interface designed for quick and efficient access to safety features. Our tech stack includes a robust backend using Express.js and Mongo Db for data management and a responsive frontend using Flutter for seamless user interaction.
Challenges we ran into
One of the significant challenges was ensuring accurate real-time tracking and reliable motion detection to identify potential dangers. Integrating various technologies and ensuring the app's battery optimization while maintaining high performance were also complex tasks we overcame.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of creating a user-friendly app that successfully integrates advanced safety features such as personalized safety plans, SOS alerts, and smart watch integration. The positive feedback from initial testers validates our efforts and encourages us to further improve the app.
