Inspiration

Accessing global information often requires visiting multiple websites for weather, currencies, world clocks, and country statistics. We wanted to simplify this experience by creating a single intelligent platform that combines real-time global data with AI-powered assistance. GLOX GLOBE was inspired by the idea of making worldwide information accessible, interactive, and easy to explore through a modern dashboard.

We developed GLOX GLOBE using modern web technologies while integrating multiple real-time APIs into a unified dashboard.

Challenges we ran into

Building a dashboard that combines several live APIs introduced challenges such as handling different response formats, managing free-tier API rate limits, and maintaining smooth performance. Designing an interface that presents large amounts of information without overwhelming users also required several UI iterations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Successfully integrated Google Gemma into a real-world application.
  • Built a modern futuristic dashboard from scratch.

What we learned

Throughout the project we gained valuable experience working with AI integration, REST APIs, asynchronous JavaScript, real-time data handling, UI/UX design, and deploying scalable web applications. We also learned the importance of graceful error handling and optimizing applications that rely on multiple external services.

GLOX GLOBE uses the Google Gemma API on the free tier. During periods of high demand, the AI assistant may experience increased response times or temporary rate limits. The application handles these situations gracefully, and all other dashboard features remain fully functional. These limitations are due to the free-tier service capacity and not the application's implementation.
