Inspiration

Photographers around the world struggle to find places for their future portfolio. In PhotoCon people can compete with each other making photos of the pre-defined locations. Our application is aiming to provide gamification and competition to the process of photoshooting.

What it does

Photos can be taken on the certain spots on the map. All those photos of the same spot made by different photographers that compete with each other in terms of creativity. In order to compete with other enthusiasts you should rate at least 5 photos of other participants. The rating is based upon swipes to the left and to the right.

The key feature of our application is that people can only take photos on certain locations, which makes competition and comparison of images fair. However, photographers are able to use their full creativity. We do not provide any precise instructions for the competitors, e.g. to shoot particular building or street (which is an issue in OpenStreetMap). Nevertheless, if enough photographers take part in the competition, it is almost certain that the object we need to be shooted, will be shooted. Thus, another OpenStreetMap issue is going to be fixed.

How we built it

The frontend is built on Figma, which presents a very user-friendly UI for the photographers to compete with each other. The classifier is trained with Convolutional Neural Network from scratch with the provided data.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are greatly proud of our teamwork, devotion and our idea, which we think perfectly fits the challenge we accepted.

What we learned
