Inspiration
Who better to embody a hero than our favorite furry companions? Consider this a heartfelt tribute to those loyal friends who patiently await us at home, yet never fail to brighten our day.
What it does
Immerse yourself in a classic pixel game that exudes cuteness, independence, and fun. Featuring a scoreboard showcasing the highest achievers and three distinct difficulty levels (easy, medium, hard), it offers an engaging experience for players.
How we built it
We used Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop, with Gradle, Android Studio, and GitHub. The primary languages utilized were Java and XML.
Challenges we ran into
Initially exploring IntelliJ IDEA and Visual Studio Code, we discovered they couldn't meet our project requirements. Fortunately, we found our perfect match in Android Studio Code. Syncing images with the Object class posed a challenge, prompting extensive research and debugging. Eventually, pinpointing the root cause allowed us to swiftly rectify the issue and synchronize the character seamlessly with the images. In the process of character creation, managing numerous layers became a bit chaotic, hindering animation cohesion. Adopting better naming practices could have mitigated these minor inconveniences.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
When the animations integrated with the backend controls, we found that it provided a gratifying experience. Achieving this synchronization was a noteworthy accomplishment for our team.
What we learned
Undertaking big projects within tight timeframes is challenging. Our key takeaway is to commence with smaller tasks and gradually build up from there for a more manageable and successful development process.
What's next for Whisker Knight
Our vision for Whisker Knight includes optimizing the game for enhanced user-friendliness. Future plans involve introducing additional mobs and potentially incorporating a captivating story feature complete with dialogue. Stay tuned for exciting updates!
