Planning a wedding in Bangladesh—whether it’s a vibrant Holud, an intimate Nikkah, or a grand Reception—is one of the most memorable yet stressful experiences for couples and their families. Traditionally, couples spend weeks manually hunting for convention halls in Gulshan or Uttara, sampling Old Dhaka Shahi Kacchi caterers, negotiating stage floral decor, and booking cinematic photographers through word-of-mouth.

We realized there was no single, unified, premium platform in Bangladesh where couples could seamlessly discover, compare, filter by budget & location, send direct booking requests, and organize their wedding checklist and budget—all in one place.

That inspired us to build WedHub—a production-grade, luxury marketplace designed specifically to empower Bangladeshi couples and wedding vendors.

🛠️ How We Built It WedHub was architected from day one as a scalable, high-performance web platform built with a full-stack modern JavaScript/TypeScript ecosystem:

Frontend: Built with React 19, Vite, and TypeScript for lightning-fast state management and client rendering. Design & Styling: Tailored using Tailwind CSS with a custom luxury color palette—Deep Burgundy (#7A1F3D), Champagne Gold (#C8A97E), and Warm Cream (#FFFDF8)—paired with Cormorant Garamond and Plus Jakarta Sans typography. Backend & Database: Powered directly by Supabase (PostgreSQL) featuring 16 normalized tables, custom triggers, and strict Row Level Security (RLS) policies for Customers, Vendors, and Admins. Interactive Maps: Integrated Leaflet with open-source OpenStreetMap tiles for interactive venue and studio location discovery across Bangladesh districts. Transactional Email Notifications: Integrated the Resend API to automatically deliver welcome emails and instant booking request confirmations. Deployment: Hosted live on Vercel with continuous deployment from GitHub. 🧠 What We Learned Multi-Role Marketplace Architecture: Designing seamless workflows that cater to three distinct user personas (Couples/Customers, Vendors, and Platform Admins) with role-based routing guards. Row Level Security (RLS) Mastery: Securing customer data, private booking inquiries, and vendor analytics at the PostgreSQL engine level using Supabase policies. Designing for Cultural Nuances: Structuring pricing models that seamlessly support both per-person catering rates (e.g., ৳750/person Kacchi Feast) and venue flat fees (e.g., ৳2,50,000 Royal Hall package). Luxury Branding over Template Design: Avoiding standard dark AI/SaaS dashboard tropes in favor of an elegant, warm, royal aesthetic that feels trustworthy to brides and grooms. 🚧 Challenges We Faced Direct Client-to-Supabase Realtime & RLS: Ensuring that vendors only receive booking inquiries meant for their business while allowing customers to view status updates in real time without exposing unnecessary private details. Seamless Map Interactivity without API Costs: Integrating Leaflet with Vite bundling while handling custom marker positioning and popup cards for venues across Dhaka, Chattogram, and Sylhet. Streamlining the Booking Flow: Reducing friction by allowing zero-upfront commission inquiries, so vendors can quickly review dates and accept reservations directly.

What's next for WedHub

Local Payment Gateway Integration: Adding direct bKash, Nagad, and SSLCommerz deposit integration. Vendor Availability Calendar Sync: Enabling vendors to block off unavailable calendar dates directly from their control panel. AI Wedding Assistant: An intelligent budget optimizer that suggests vendor package combinations based on a couple's target total budget.
