Project Story — Walldo

Inspiration

Walldo was inspired by a simple problem: digital creators, freelancers, developers, and businesses often need to use multiple platforms for different activities. One platform may be used to find freelancers, another to showcase projects, another to discover hackathons, and another to sell digital products.

I wanted to bring these experiences together into one connected ecosystem.

The idea behind Walldo is to create a platform where people can discover talent, post projects, participate in events and hackathons, showcase their work, and monetize digital products from a single place.

The goal was not just to build another marketplace, but to create a community-driven platform where digital skills can turn into real opportunities.

What it does

Walldo is a digital ecosystem that connects freelancers, clients, creators, projects, events, and digital products.

The platform provides several core features:

Find Freelancers — Discover people based on their skills and profiles.
Post Projects — Allow clients to publish projects and connect with suitable freelancers.
Projects — Showcase web apps, mobile apps, AI/ML projects, designs, games, and templates.
Events & Hackathons — Create and discover technical events, competitions, and hackathons.
Digital Products — Publish and sell downloadable digital products.
My Products — Manage products published by the creator.
Sales — Monitor product sales and related activity.
Wallet & Spending — Manage account-related financial activity.
Messages — Communicate with other users.
Notifications — Stay updated about important platform activities.
Profile — Build and manage a professional digital identity.

How we built it

We started by designing the platform around the different types of users and their workflows.

The interface was organized into dedicated sections for freelancers, projects, events, digital products, sales, and user accounts.

We focused heavily on creating a clean and consistent user experience so that even though Walldo contains many features, users can navigate between them easily.

For the freelancer system, we designed profile-based discovery with skills and searchable information.

For project management, we created workflows that allow users to publish project requirements and connect with potential talent.

For events and hackathons, we created forms that support information such as event title, description, type, dates, location, registration details, prizes, participant limits, and skill tags.

For the project showcase, we created categories such as Web Apps, Mobile Apps, AI/ML, Design, Games, and Templates, along with search and sorting functionality.

We also built a digital-product workflow where creators can provide product information, pricing, categories, cover images, download links, and tags.

Throughout development, we focused on reusable components, consistent layouts, responsive design, intuitive navigation, and scalable application structure.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was managing the large number of features without making the platform feel complicated.

Walldo combines freelancing, project management, events, hackathons, project showcasing, digital products, sales, messaging, and account management. Each feature has its own workflow, but they all need to feel like parts of the same application.

Another challenge was designing forms that could handle different types of information while remaining simple for users.

We also had to think carefully about navigation and information architecture. Users should be able to move from discovering a freelancer to creating a project, or from showcasing a project to publishing a related digital product, without feeling lost.

Other challenges included:

Maintaining consistent UI across multiple modules.
Designing intuitive search and filtering experiences.
Handling complex user workflows.
Creating useful dashboards without overwhelming users.
Connecting different platform features into one coherent ecosystem.
Designing the platform with future scalability in mind.

These challenges pushed us to think beyond individual screens and focus on the complete product experience.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that Walldo evolved from an idea into a complete platform concept with multiple interconnected systems.

The biggest accomplishment is that Walldo is not limited to a single use case. A user can potentially find opportunities, collaborate, build projects, showcase their work, participate in events, and monetize their skills within the same platform.

What we learned

Building Walldo taught us that developing a large application is not simply about implementing individual features.

The most important part is understanding how those features interact with each other.

We learned the importance of:

User-centered product design.
Designing complete user workflows.
Reusable UI components.
Clear information architecture.
Search and filtering.
Form design and validation.
Dashboard design.
Responsive interfaces.
Consistent visual systems.
Planning for scalability.
Thinking about the product from the user's perspective.

One of our biggest lessons was that a successful platform needs to solve a real problem while keeping the experience simple.

Instead of asking "What features can we add?", we learned to ask "How does this feature create value for the user?"

Walldo is designed as a foundation that can continue to grow into a larger creator and professional ecosystem.

Our next steps include strengthening the marketplace and adding more advanced functionality around collaboration, payments, communication, and discovery.
