OVERVIEW:In this project small team of 3 students challenged themselves to create a RPG hack and slash game. We designed the game from scratch and used the Unity engine. I did the game, graphic, and UX design and also helped with the Unity engine when needed.

CHALLENGES:

  1. Limited Time of 13 weeks
  2. Unexplored Coding on Unity
  3. Unique Concept We developed this game in 13 weeks for a showcase. Usually game development take years, but we manage to make a decent game in 13 weeks. We also had to learn the unity game engine. So we had to adapt to it quickly in order for us to start programming

PROCESS: We started off brain storming a concept then built off it. We explored different concepts, but finally landed on a fantasy hack and slash game. I designed the GUI and investigated how it would benifit the user experience by using different colour. The GUI art was custom made my me. It reflect the art style of the fantasy and church stained glass windows. We did user testing and got feedback from tester. As development continued, I began to refine my work. I also manage to make objects like gaint mushroom and chestboxes. Using Maya was new to me, so it took a few days to finally draw something up to standard. Game Development OUTCOME: I got to exercise my GUI design ablity and did some front end programing for this game. I learned about Unity engine and used my graphic design skills. I was able to learn about game theories and go through a game development cycle. We ended up with 4th place out of 12 teams.

TECHNOLOGY:The technology that I was Unity,Maya, and Illustrator.
