TripMate is a personalised commute assistant designed to make Sydney’s public transport experience simpler and less stressful. While most trip planners optimise only for speed, we focused on what actually matters to commuters — reliability, transfers, walking effort, and overall stress. The app provides a quick daily summary of a user’s routine journey, highlighting delays, disruptions, and better alternatives in under a minute. We introduced a stress-based scoring system that ranks routes based on individual preferences, allowing users to choose options that suit how they want to travel, not just what is fastest. We also extended the solution beyond trains by adding a weather resilience feature that helps cyclists and pedestrians assess shelter availability near stations during extreme conditions. Built using Python, Streamlit, and transport datasets (CSV and GeoJSON), TripMate combines data processing, geospatial analysis, and a clean user interface to turn complex information into clear, actionable insights. Ultimately, it aims to provide a smarter, more human-centred layer on top of public transport, helping commuters make better daily decisions with less uncertainty and stress.
