TRACE is an iPad music instrument for turning small sound gestures into a finished arrangement.
Start with 64 playable sample pads across four banks. Play, hold, and roll sounds, then move two fingers across TRACE FIELD to shape FILTER, SPACE, GRAIN, and TAPE at the same time. The result is not just a collection of samples: it is a performance that can be organized into Scenes, Patterns, and an Arrangement.
When a take needs more detail, TRACE can record audio, CHOP a recording into slices, assign those slices to pads, and resample the result. A Live Take can then be rendered as a Master WAV or as four stereo stems for further work.
TRACE keeps the first musical loop available without an account. The free experience includes one custom project, up to eight scenes per project, a 15-second Memory, Master WAV export, recording/import, CHOP, Resample, pads, and TRACE FIELD. Full Unlock expands the local workflow to five editable projects, 16 scenes per project, 15/30/60-second Memory options, and four stereo stem export.
Full Unlock is a one-time purchase implemented with RevenueCat. The app has a purpose-specific paywall and Restore flow.
TRACE was built around a simple question: what if the shortest path from a sample to a finished idea was also a playable instrument? Its interface puts sound placement, two-touch modulation, arrangement, and export in one iPad workflow, so a short performance can become a structured track without leaving the app.
