Inspiration
Unlike coronavirus, whose symptoms you can track days in advance and whose diagnosis you’d suspect at the slightest cough, we are currently in the midst of an invisible epidemic. The epidemic of loneliness. Studies show that this epidemic social isolation has drastically increased from 2003 to 2021. In fact, there is a massive decline in the amount of time spent engaging with friends in-person and shockingly, young people between the ages of 15 to 24 are at the forefront of this problem. For this age group, the time that they spend with friends in person has gone down by nearly 70% in the last 20 years. They used to spend an average of 150 minutes per day in 2003 but only 40 minutes per day in 2020.
Enter Touch Grass Club. As college students, we understand how hard it can be to find a group of people who are interested in the same activities as you — especially if you’re a freshman. It is tempting to spend your free time scrolling on Instagram or watching TV for hours and before you know it, you’ve spent 7 hours a day staring at a screen. Touch Grass Club is a platform that helps you get in touch with your community. We put our customers at the forefront of this experience and let you customise your experience on our website.
What it does
Touch Grass Club is a platform that helps you get in touch with your community. We put our customers at the forefront of this experience and let you customise your experience on our website. For example, say you are interested in running. You simply drag your avatar and enter the ‘portal’. This then takes you to a page that gives you a list of activities that you could take part in! Even better, it makes it easier than ever to join a community of like-minded people. Say you’re interested in a particular event, simply join the forum and enter the chat! This aims to help coordinate rides, find buddies who would want to join you on this adventure and most importantly, it makes it easier to find an activity and a group of people to meet in person and have fun engaging in non-screen related activities with!
