Inspiration
The COVID-19 pandemic has led to an increase in people choosing to drive cars over public transport, due to the health risks at the time. With the pandemic slowing down, our app aims to reverse this trend by incentivizing and encouraging people to take more sustainable forms of transport, like public transport, carpooling, and bike-sharing.
What it does
Our app aims to incentivize the use of public transport, by providing people with rewards, and discounts and making it more fun through connecting with friends and reaching milestones. It provides an effective way to track how often you use public transport, the more you do, the less of a carbon footprint you leave. Happy Travelling!
How we built it
Our app was built with react native and javascript, and prototyped in Adobe XD
Challenges we ran into
We were all quite new to front-end development, so learning the necessary tools in such a short time was quite the journey!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning about front-end design and development, working together as a team in an online environment, and coming up up with a cool and impactful idea.
What we learned
We've learned that making an app is more than just coding, it is also about the presentation, idea, and overall design of the entire experience.
What's next for Footprint?
Partnering with other companies like Uber, Presto, and bike sharing companies to add the cool features discussed in our video!
Stay tuned!
