I am now working on the full color version of the professional finished sketches for Together We'll Find It.
When I originally became aware of the EGHI Covid-19 Children's Book Competition, I intended to create color illustrations in the manner that I usually do as a Fashion Illustrator.
Then I became ill and was unable to fulfill that intention but I knew for sure that I wasn't going to let anything stop me from participating in this hackathon competition. This life changing opportunity presented as something that I absolutely was not going to miss.
So then, I put on my thinking cap and decided that something was better than nothing. I made the choice right then to take the initial sketches from my pad and just use those. I settled on the fact that, the originality of the images was the main ingredient.
So there you have it, my submission shows initial sketches because that's all I could do. But now, I am healthy and strong and I can do MORE! So I am now hard at work back at the sketching table with my paint, brushes, pens and all.
I'll post the updates as I go along. for me, the lesson here is that no matter what, I was present, I showed up and I did my personal best given my immediate circumstances.
Difficulty didn't break me although I did have a few doubts at times. Thankfully, I was constantly reminded of the premise of the book I was writing and that's what brought me sailing through. I couldn't have done it alone, so for the people who are a part of my better togehter, Thank YOU!
