Inspiration The underground car culture of Los Angeles and the bay area of California is what inspired this game.
What it does This game allows you to compete for street cred against other drivers as you collect Solar coins for points in sick cars. Which turns into an intense show of skill and will to achieve greatness. You can control cars that have different looks and attributes on the street to hit and collect the one Solar coin the pops up in random places on the street that you must find before you competitors do.
How we built it I bult it using an array of different programs, apps, artistic techniques and code blocks.
Challenges we ran into The main challenge I had to overcome was creating the balance of a captivating and beautiful aesthetic while simultaneously keeping my frame rates low enough so players wouldn't lag or crash the app.
Accomplishments that we're proud of The accomplishments I am most proud of is the scripting done in the world that result in a game that could be addictive. Also, with little to no help I created many fun game mechanics and captured the feeling of being in LA in VR. The world is beautiful, and I built it alone and I am very proud of that.
What we learned I've learned that the operators tab of the code block section in Horizon is where all the magic happens. Also, I need to make some new friends, because creating this would have been a different experience if I could have created it with other great minds. A little help can go a long way.
What's next for The Take Over Next is more optimization so the game can run as smooth as possible. Updating the game on a weekly time schedule to keep it fresh and applying more game mechanics as I learn code blocks and typescript, in an effort to streamline gameplay, have different modes and make it even more fun.
