Inspiration
What if a city that looks accessible to you is impossible for someone else to navigate? THE LAST LIGHT turns that question into a game.
What it does
Players explore a 3D neighborhood, discover accessibility barriers, and redesign routes using ramps, crossings, and lighting. Across three story-driven chapters, they help residents reach their destinations while managing limited budgets.
How we built it
Built with Next.js, React, TypeScript, Three.js, React Three Fiber, and Zustand, with pathfinding, collision detection, and automated gameplay testing.
Challenges
Combining third-person exploration with accessible route simulation, realistic movement, and meaningful puzzle mechanics.
Accomplishments
Three playable chapters, five unique residents, seven successful journeys, and automated end-to-end gameplay verification.
What we learned
Accessibility isn't just about reaching a destination. It's about making sure everyone has a safe and practical way to get there.
What's next
More neighborhoods, accessibility challenges, and richer interactive environments.
AI transparency: Claude Code and OpenAI Codex assisted substantially with development, debugging, and testing.
