Inspiration - exploring the world of organic molecules using mathematical modelling! We are both Chemical Engineering majors, which heavily relies on both math and chemistry. We want to share a glimpse into our major with others!
What it does - teaches people about organic chemistry and math in a fun and interactive way!
How we built it - we created a template on Adobe Illustrator and laser cut the pieces out of wooden sheets. We then painted it with acrylic paint and created foldable origami boxes to house the pieces in.
Challenges we ran into - learning how to use the laser cutter and Adobe Illustrator was a bit of a learning curve for us.
Accomplishments that we're proud of - neither of us had been to a makerspace before and we're really proud of the fact that we laser cut pieces without any prior experience.
What we learned - we learned how to think spontaneously to solve challenges that we run into. We also learned how to utilize different resources and people to achieve our goal in the project.
