Problem Statement:

Although many people strive to improve their relationship with their skin, individuals lack the knowledge, support, and inclusion needed to find products that personally fit them.

We compiled all of our research and organized the problem into 4 categories…

Journey: Social media often only shows the before and after pictures of skin care and not the journey of recovery. Awareness: Individuals lack knowledge of the product ingredients and how to find affordable products. Support: Individuals seek a community of people who share the same skin problems as them. Inclusion: Individuals want to know what products are right for them. We want to disrupt the “one-size-fits-all” notion with skincare.

Goal Statement:

We aim to design an app that fosters a supportive and comfortable environment where individuals can:

  • Share their skin stories with one another.
  • Track their skincare routine and products
  • Get recommendations on affordable skin care products personalized to their skin type
  • Receive insights and tips from dermatologists and licensed estheticians
  • Read articles on skincare written by experts

Reflection:

Difficulties: There were many features that we had wanted to add to the app, but doing so would have made the app less user-friendly. Instead, we narrowed it down to the most essential features. Choosing a product name was a challenge; it was hard to find a single word that fit the theme of our project’s goal

What we’ve learned: Skincare is expensive and not always accessible. We cannot just choose a random color scheme that we like; we have to choose colors are readable. Navigation of apps should be easily accessible and understood by users
