Taskmaster: My Journey Building an Autonomous AI Agent

I’m excited to share Taskmaster, my project for the All Things Agentic Hackathon.

Taskmaster is an autonomous AI agent designed to turn natural-language goals into actionable workflows and execute real tasks.

What Taskmaster can do

  • Create, start, track, and complete tasks
  • Persist task state using Google Cloud Firestore
  • Schedule events through Google Calendar
  • Prepare and send emails through Gmail
  • Require explicit user approval before sending emails
  • Use Google ADK to orchestrate agent behavior
  • Use Gemini 3.5 Flash as the reasoning model

What I learned

Building Taskmaster gave me hands-on experience designing an agent that does more than generate text. The biggest challenge was making the agent reliably execute actions while maintaining task state and keeping the user in control of sensitive operations.

I also worked with Google ADK, Gemini, Firestore, Gmail APIs, Google Calendar APIs, and Google Cloud while building and testing the system.

The project is now submitted to the All Things Agentic Hackathon.
