On August 9th, a young, unarmed black man was shot dead by a white police officer in the little-known town of Ferguson, Missouri. The anger and unrest that followed – along with the eventual decision by a grand jury not to indict the police officer for the shooting – revealed a racial fault line in the American criminal justice system. This is the story of Michael Brown’s death, and the events that followed it.
