Inspiration
Our inspiration is the conflict that exists when a group of fiends have to choose a bar for meeting.
What it does
Find the best bar location for groups based on their locations!
How we built it
We built the front-end Android application witch Java and the back-end operations with Python. We have also used Git as a version controller since the beginning of the project.
Challenges we ran into
- Create an Open Source application
- Find the best bars in a radius of a midpoint obtained from the list of the locations of a group of friends.
- Create a simple and friendly interface for an easy use of the application.
- Base the application on Google Maps so that most users have no problem getting the locations of the best bars.
- Work as a team in person and online at the same time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud to have been able to create an application using an API that is quite complete and complex to use. We are also delighted to be able to complete the challenges that had been set for us and have been able to create something functional in the short time we had.
What we learned
We have learned to work with technologies which we were not very familiar with, that has given us a very good ability to adapt. We have learned to work as a team. We have been able to divide the tasks among the whole team. Also to help each other when necessary, which has made us have a good work environment and spend a great weekend working together.
What's next for StarBars
We plan to continue working on it to improve it because we think it can be a very useful and interesting application for people and their group of friends.
