  Our idea was to create an app to conect to the sponge and the sensors to get the data and help the user to use it in the best way.

Inspiration

It is fun for my teammate and we thought about a new product. We noticed that the makeup sponge will be thrown after it is dirty which harms the environment. So we decide to do a smart and environmentally friendly sponge for the makeup and relaxation for the project.

What it does

We want to save users money by buying many different brushes. Also, we add some functions to the sponge to help the user care about his/her health. The sponge is multifunctional and you can use it to apply many different products using only one product instead of wasting money and time buying many different brushes to do the makeup and cleaning the skin. You can use the sponge to apply, highlighter, blush, contour, foundation, translucid powder, makeup shadows, and also use for skincare the normal and conventional sponges their only use is for foundation. Our sponge also has a haptic feedback module that would vibrate and help if the user wants to use it for relaxation and if they use the app they could learn how to believe their pain by using the health section.

How I built it

Sara gave the idea and makes the image of the sponge and the related application. I did the research about the material and how it works. For this sponge, we would need to use heme Baby Q Transparent Makeup Puff material. It’s easy to clean + bacteria-free, It works just as well with liquids/creams as with powders and it is environmentally friendly. Also, I make a leaflet.

Challenges I ran into

It is hard to make sure all the ideas are right. Such as the function and the technology available.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

We have a few time to design and finish the whole project. I am so happy with our idea and this sponge could really works.

What I learned

I learned that the idea is from what a user needs and how the product helps the user. Since no one would buy it if no one need it.

What's next for Squid Sponge

Some improvements in health section. Because people should not only care about their body outside, the inside is also important. We want to focus on the health product.
