Inspiration
We wanted to show others how cute sharks can be, and to create a more personal connection between users and sharks.
What it does
This web app provides a variety of information about sharks. The user can also name a shark, and view 5 different types of sharks.
How we built it
To build it, we used React JS. This was a combination of HTML, CSS, and Javascript. As for the visuals, we used Adobe Illustrator to design shark images, which we imported into the code to display.
Challenges we ran into
As this was our first time building something using React, we ran into problems at every step of the way, from installing the files to importing images. It was a rollercoaster of an experience trying to learn React in 2 days.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are really proud that we actually built something that works, and that it's cute to look at. We were not sure we would be able to finish or make anything at all as we were coding.
What we learned
We learned a lot about React and how it works! This included JSX syntax, running React apps locally, and much more.
What's next for Some-fin Interesting About Sharks
Hopefully, we will add more shark types to display, as well as more information on the site. We also plan to utilize our new knowledge in building other apps in React.
