Inspiration

In a world racing toward sustainability, one truth remains: the power of the sun is limitless, yet largely untapped.

We were inspired to build SolarWise by a simple observation — millions of rooftops sit idle, while energy bills rise and climate change accelerates. Solar panels are not just for big buildings or tech-savvy people — they should be accessible, understandable, and affordable for everyone.

But we realized most people don’t know where to begin — “How much would I save? Is my home even viable for solar energy? Will this help the planet, or just cost me money?”

That’s where SolarWise was born.

What it does

SolarWise is your personal solar potential advisor.

You just enter your location, your rooftop size, and your electricity usage — and SolarWise does the math: • How much clean energy you can generate ☀️ • How much money you can save each year 💸 • How much CO₂ emissions you can reduce 🌱

It’s clean, simple, and actionable — no jargon, no complex reports.

How we built it

We built SolarWise using [Bolt], leveraging its fast front-end deployment capabilities and modern design features. The app: • Uses form inputs to collect basic user info • Calculates solar energy generation based on standard sunlight averages • Displays results in a futuristic, friendly dashboard • Shows personalized green energy tips to encourage better usage • Integrates with RevenueCat for potential monetization • Is hosted on Netlify with a custom domain provided through the hackathon perks

We focused on accessibility — something anyone could use, from a small-town homeowner to a student curious about climate change.

Challenges we ran into

• Making solar data simple yet accurate without real-time APIs
• Designing UI that looks futuristic but stays user-friendly
• Balancing technical details with emotional storytelling
• Staying focused on the problem, not just the technology

Accomplishments that we're proud of

SolarWise isn’t just an app — it’s a step toward a movement.

We want people to look up at their rooftops and think: “That could be a power plant.”

We want people to understand: “I can save money while saving the planet.”

And for those in remote or underprivileged areas — Solar isn’t a luxury. It’s independence. It’s electricity for the first time. It’s a future without limits.

What's next for Solarwise

we plan on taking solarwise to the next level by launching it as a product soon where we can help millions of families to save the world and also their money
