We were challenged with creating an eco-friendly boot design for Ezrach Brain Trust Association's social enterprise.

Inspiration

We started by exploring current fashion and footwear trends, then tied in inspiration from both the history and culture of South Los Angeles as well as the mission of Ezrach.

What it does

Our team wanted to keep and highlight the bootstraps metaphor shared by the brief in our design. We also pursued sustainability by looking into materials options, such as cork and coconut husk for the outsole, that have low impacts in their collection and processing as well as striving for simplified material groupings for easier deconstruction.

How we built it

We brainstormed our concept and story over Miro, and delegated responsibilities according to strengths and interests. Sketches were done on Procreate and on paper.

Challenges we ran into

The time crunch was our biggest challenge! Squeezing a whole design process and video production within a few days after completing our research was challenging and exciting.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of our teamwork, and that the final product was something everyone contributed equally to. We are also glad that everything was able to come together in time!

What's next for SOLA TeamC

We'll keep in touch, and look forward to more collaborative opportunities!
