Inspiration
Farmers are the undisputed backbone of our nation's food chain. Every grain of rice on our plates, every vegetable in our markets, begins with their tireless work. They are the frontline guardians of our food security, and their success is directly tied to our ability to fight hunger and malnutrition across the world. But the majority of farmers, especially smallholders, lack access to affordable tools for monitoring soil conditions in real-time. Decisions are often based on intuition rather than precise data, leading to suboptimal crop health and yield.
What it does
SIA is a mobile-first, cloud-based platform that leverages aerospace data from satellites and advanced AI algorithms to provide farmers with real-time soil moisture analysis and automated irrigation recommendations. The system is delivered through an intuitive dashboard and alert system, empowering farmers to optimize water usage, reduce operational costs, and significantly increase crop yields. By translating complex satellite imagery into simple, actionable insights, SIA aims to become the essential digital assistant for the modern farmer facing the challenges of climate change and resource scarcity.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We successfully built a fully functional pipeline that processes complex aerospace data and delivers an actionable irrigation schedule to a farmer's phone in under 15 minutes. This is a massive leap from manual guesswork.
What we learned
Farmers don't care about AI or SAR. They care about whether their crops will thrive. We learned to hide all the complexity. The most valuable feedback led us to strip down the UI to its most essential elements: a simple moisture bar, a clear schedule, and timely alerts.
