Inspiration
It has been more than 2 years since the pandemic has begun, many big and established business-owners have been able to overcome the loss they suffered in the earlier stage of the pandemic, but those who operated their business on a small scale have still not been able to find a solution to live their life the way they used to before the pandemic struck. So, our main aim behind designing this website is to increase the scalability of business for those businessmen. The aim of our website adheres to it’s name ‘ShoP@EASE’ so that anyone can Shop with ease during these harsh times. By increasing the interaction between seller and buyer, our website will help those sellers to recover their loss with ease. Many have even faced issues in finding proper food from outside because of the fear of pandemic, so our website will be able to provide them with specially cooked home-made food, so that the customers would be able to have a healthy diet and without any worries regarding the pandemic.
We have two options on our page, either you can buy the products (mainly apparel, Home decor, and handicrafts, healthcare, and most importantly Homemade food) or sell them. So during pandemic time as we all know that people avoid spring food so providing Homemade food will ensure good and healthy food to buyers and it will act as a source of income for sellers.
What it does
ShoP@Ease aims to bring the MSMEs closer to the customers and provide the small business owners with a platform to easily list their products for their customers. The customers can easily explore the site to find a wide range of products from different categories: food, handicrafts, or medicine. The site also offers a quick registration process for business owners.
How we built it
Currently, we have done the prototype using Figma of the very first version of this project and we will definitely be working on its upcoming version. Our main focus will be building that up using react js for the upcoming version. We used Illustrator for illustrations and also photoshop for building some of the work.
Challenges we ran into
Getting the idea of bringing in the seller and the buyer together without any intermediaries was a challenging task for us. We had to brainstorm for a long time and had to think about what all problems the people face, the small businesses face in particular while selling their products and how they incur losses in this procedure. Making changes to this behaviour of selling and buying products made us approach this way and as discussed after, how the later versions of this project can bring the people closer and have profited from both sides.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We learnt to use Figma to build a design for a website in one day. This site can help millions of people, as it connects small business owners directly to their customers. We created a concise UI which provides all the necessary information clearly for the owners and customers.
What we learned
We learnt to create a clean and clear UI on Figma from scratch, along with using its various functionalities to build this design. While developing the website we also got to know about the problems being faced by various sections of people and the after effects of pandemic on their lives and the steps that can be taken in order to tackle the issue.
What's next for ShoP@EASE
In the upcoming version of this project, we will try to add more features, and also even expand our customer base. Our main motive is to get the seller and buyer close in selling and buying their products without any interediateries. Our try will remain eternal until the maximum of the sellers and the buyers are benefitted by our website without having to think about the intermediate costs and loss margin. The sellers can directly upload their product images in this website and can have it hosted to all the buyers in the website by having a small margin of profit. In this case, even the sellers are benefitted and also the buyers as they will still have to pay less where the intermediaries would have charged more. Making this website a great success in the upcoming version by making some of these changes might change the perspective of the small business owners and their theory of living.
