Inspiration

I was attending a tech conference and was struck by the lack of resources available to women in STEM. Despite my own talent and experience, I knew that many other women faced challenges such as bias, discrimination, and lack of access to networks and opportunities and also in workplace. I realized that there was a need for an app that could provide women in STEM with job search tools, educational resources, networking opportunities, blog and article content, and mentorship programs - all in one place. My main motivation is to gather all the available resources, advice and job opportunities in one place, so that whether you're a recent graduate looking for your first job, or a seasoned professional seeking to advance your career, this app can be an invaluable resource to help you achieve your goals and thrive in the world of STEM. By providing a streamlined and user-friendly experience, my hope is that this app will make the job search process less daunting and more empowering, allowing women to take control of their careers and pursue their dreams.

What it does

This app provides a range of resources to help women achieve their career goals. By integrating features such as job search tools, educational resources, networking opportunities, blog and article content, and mentorship programs, this app can help women navigate the often-male dominated tech industry and overcome the unique challenges they face. By highlighting success stories of women in STEM, the app can serve as a source of inspiration and motivation, while providing a supportive community for women to connect, collaborate, and share their experiences.

How we built it

As this is a concept app, I decided to follow the path of user experience design and research. At the beginning of the design process, I did user research and competitive analysis through surveys. Then I defined the problem and possible solutions. Then I built the information architecture and managed to get a flow of application design. Then I made wireframe and prototype for my design.

Challenges we ran into

Handling such a detailed project in a limited time was a challenge itself, a challenge believe I handled well. I aim to do better in my next design process. Taking survey and research about competitors took a long time to complete. The design process was not linear and a lot of revisions were needed. Stress, burnout and getting lost in task overload was common throughout the process.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I feel proud of delivering an app that is easy to use and navigate, visually attractive and engaging, with intuitive features and clear call-to-actions. I am proud that I gathered an idea for an application that promotes inclusivity and equal opportunities for female job seekers. It will improve the job market and create economic opportunities for women in STEM communities.

What we learned

I learned to use new tools, new techniques to fasten my design process. At the beginning I was trying to think everything all at once, but I learned that uncertain dots will connect themselves during the journey. I also learned that when there is proper research that done, I can output solid ideas better and faster. Mostly, I learned that I can.

What's next for She Leads

I tried my best to define all the design aspects for this application. The next step would be a revision for any loop holes, and then develop the application and launch in the market. When finalizing the software, my plan is to include a lot job matching algorithms, personalized job recommendations, real-time application tracking, so it can provide accurate information to user. My believe is such an app will be very much used by our target customer.
