Inspiration
What's your favorite ice cream flavor? If you answered cookies n' cream, you're not unique, and if you're anything like the customers at Shasta's Cones & More, you're more than happy to phone ahead to interrogate employees on whether your favorite flavor is available. Enter the Shasta's Cones & More online menu—a website with one purpose: to end the influx of phone calls once and for all.
What it does
The Shasta's Cones & More online menu displays the 24 available Shasta's ice cream flavors at any given time.
How we built it
We used Figma to create low and high-fidelity wireframes and Adobe Illustrator to design the logo and icons. Vue was used to implement the designs in Javascript, HTML, and CSS.
Challenges we ran into
We wanted to have the ice cream cards flip to showcase a flavor description but were unable to figure out how in the given time. We will figure it out sometime shortly.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As newbies to web design, we are proud to have a functional website that looks nice.
What we learned
We learned a lot about front-end development. Some things were easier than expected, like creating a checklist, while others (e.i. an email notification system) were more complicated than we initially thought.
What's next for Shasta's Cones & More
We will implement a database to store customers' notification settings. We will send email and/or text notifications whenever flavors checked by the customer are available. We will have the ice cream "cards" flip to display a description of the flavor on the back.
