Inspiration
We realized that, even though mental health affects everyone, people are reluctant to talk about it with each other, despite the good it can do. We wanted to make something that would encourage others to do that.
What it does
It is a game the simulates talking with students as a school, trying to find and talk with the one student who is struggling and in need.
How we built it
We built it using the C++ language and SDL, as well as using photoshop for some of the assets
Challenges we ran into
We did not use a game engine to build the game, so all of the game mechanics are built from scratch.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Despite the difficulty of making a game without a game engine, we still managed to produce a functional game within a single day.
What we learned
We learned how to use each other's strengths to build the game, including splitting up the tasks of creating the assets and programming the game.
What's next for Shape up
There are still a lot of improvements that could be made for the game, as as refining the difficulty, as well other features that could be added to the game with more time, such as more behaviour indicators, a customizable player avatar, etc.
