Inspiration
SEPTA's mobile transit app has garnered an impressive hater base since it hit the app stores. The UX has progressively gotten worse with each update, and it consistently provides limited information about accessibility options at stations. These issues motivated us to create a directory to improve SEPTA travelers experience.
What it does
This app provides information about accessibility features, including photos of the stations and information about elevator and ramp accessibility, bus shelters, fare costs, etc.
How we built it
We built this app using Svelte, typescript, javascript, css, html, Google Street View Static API, SEPTA API, and Azure.
Challenges we ran into
We had a VERY hard time using SEPTA's API.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Using the SEPTA API to retrieve station coordinates, and finding a SEPTA API to retrieve accessibility features using the console.
What we learned
We've all learned a lot over the course of this Hackathon. Many of us have learned about Python backend, secure programming, and more from the workshops! We worked a lot in TSX and JSX, learned how to use Svelte, and how to use APIs.
What's next for SEPTA tool
Mobile App deployment, full transit system support, additional accessibility information, and advanced search functions.
