An intelligent testing system

Inspiration

Due to the COVID-19, the largest industry affected is Education, although institutions devised many ways and used a lot of technologies to deliver education in distance learning mode using various softwares of ZOOM, TEAMS and GOOGLE MEET. But, the problem resided was to introduce a testing system so the evaluation of students can be made on merit. With our solution, the problem addressed will be solved by suppressing all the cheat attempts from students. Alongwith providing great ease to Professors for test creation as well as test checking can really solve the problem of lack of a reliable testing system.

What it does

We designed an online testing system that not only provides better and intuitive UI for all the teachers and professors to build any kind of tests, but also facilitate all the students problems of connectivity and device shutdowns. Moreover, to stop most of the cheat attempts from the students, we have added many features like random snapshots, full screen tests, no copy paste and no switch screen etc.

How we built it

Working with a team of 2 colleagues, we have developed an interactive UI of the website defining all the functionalities of SecureT. We have designed the high-fidelity prototype on FIGMA (Link can be seen below). The prototype was designed by keeping the students mindsets in front to make it easier to use.

Challenges we ran into

To overtake all the available competitions in the market, we ran a survey through the student community to know what they think about google forms, or teams quiz or their own institutions LMS. To see all the statistics, we were more confident of our solution to provide a more LIVE and flawless system to the students as well as teachers.

What's next for SecureT

For the next stages, we will bringing our website and app design to life as soon as possible, so students and institutes can benefit from this idea. To do this, we need more sponsors as well as more finances to start developing our idea. Secondly, we will market and run publicity drives for our system so more and more educational institutions can get aware of the platform, hence taking this idea to international level as our audience involves all the institutes affected by COVID-19.

What features do we provide

For teachers, we provide you with facilities of fast test making, test type involves MCQs test, fill in the blanks and customized test involving these plus uploading a picture or writing a solution. Creating the test comes with a lot of easy tools like blank pen, shuffling questions, time per section, time per question, viewing one question at a time etc.Then, during the checking process, an easy access to every students test and exam with a check pen to highlight the wrong solution. On top of this solution, the snaps taken by our system of the system will be attached and their surety rate that the same student has taken the test. Finally, if some student submits a recheck proposal, teacher can also start a chat on the students solution. For students, we provide them facilities of pre-registering their devices to be used in the tests. An easier way of entering a code to start taking test. Switching devices is one of the major features avoiding all the device shutdown problems. Live test uploading on the servers and creating an offline backups will keep students from losing their data due to connectivity issues. The test will come with all the constraints applied by the task maker. You cannot leave the screen thrice, or else you will lose your test. Finally, you can view your grades and submit a recheck request if you want the test maker to recheck the test.
