Inspiration

Sayanak was inspired by a personal experience that had a significant impact on my life. One of my close relatives struggled with drug addiction, alcohol abuse, and smoking. Over time, the addiction affected not only his health but also the entire family. There were constant arguments, emotional distress, violence, and situations that left family members feeling helpless and unsafe.

What struck me most was how difficult it was to find the right support. Many families, including mine, are not aware of rehabilitation centers, mental health services, counseling options, government schemes, or emergency helplines that could help during such situations. When a crisis occurs, people often do not know where to turn.

This motivated me to build Sayanak—a platform designed to connect individuals and families with the support resources they need, making help more accessible, discoverable, and actionable during difficult times.

What it does

Sayanak is a digital support platform that helps individuals and families affected by substance abuse and addiction.

The platform provides:

  • Information about nearby rehabilitation and de-addiction centers.
  • Access to emergency and mental health helplines.
  • Guidance on available support services and recovery resources.
  • Location-based discovery of assistance centers.
  • Educational resources to help families understand addiction and recovery.
  • A centralized platform that reduces the time and effort required to find trustworthy help.

By bringing these resources together, Sayanak helps users quickly find the support they need when facing addiction-related challenges.

How we built it

Sayanak was developed as a technology-driven solution focused on accessibility and usability.

We:

  • Researched addiction-related challenges and support systems.
  • Collected information about rehabilitation centers, helplines, and support resources.
  • Designed a user-friendly interface that allows users to quickly locate assistance.
  • Built location-based search capabilities to help users find nearby services.
  • Integrated resource discovery and guidance features into a single platform.
  • Tested the application with real-world scenarios to ensure that information could be accessed easily during emergencies.

Our goal throughout development was to keep the platform simple, reliable, and accessible to people with varying levels of technical knowledge.

Challenges we ran into

Building Sayanak came with several challenges:

  • Finding accurate and up-to-date information about rehabilitation centers and support services.
  • Ensuring the platform could provide reliable recommendations across different locations.
  • Understanding the sensitive nature of addiction-related issues and designing the platform responsibly.
  • Balancing simplicity with the need to provide comprehensive information.
  • Creating a solution that could be useful to both individuals struggling with addiction and their family members.

These challenges required extensive research, validation, and continuous refinement of the platform.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud that Sayanak transforms a real-life problem into a meaningful technological solution.

Some of our key accomplishments include:

  • Creating a platform inspired by real community needs.
  • Making support resources easier to discover and access.
  • Bringing multiple forms of assistance into one centralized system.
  • Raising awareness about addiction recovery resources.
  • Building a solution that has the potential to help families during difficult situations.

Most importantly, we are proud that Sayanak aims to provide hope and guidance to people who may feel lost during a crisis.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned that technology can play an important role in addressing social and public health challenges.

We gained experience in:

  • User-centered problem solving.
  • Researching and validating public support resources.
  • Designing applications for sensitive social issues.
  • Building systems that prioritize accessibility and usability.
  • Understanding the importance of empathy when developing technology for vulnerable communities.

We also learned that many social problems are not caused by a lack of solutions, but by a lack of awareness and accessibility.

What's next for Sayanak

Our vision is to expand Sayanak into a comprehensive support ecosystem.

Future plans include:

  • AI-powered personalized guidance and recommendations.
  • Multilingual support to reach more communities.
  • Direct appointment booking with rehabilitation centers and counselors.
  • Anonymous chat and support services.
  • Community support groups and peer assistance networks.
  • Real-time emergency assistance features.
  • Partnerships with healthcare providers, NGOs, and government organizations.
  • Predictive analytics to identify individuals who may need early intervention and support.

Ultimately, we want Sayanak to become a trusted platform that helps individuals and families find the right support at the right time and contributes to healthier, safer communities.
