Inspiration
Empowering women through safety and support, addressing the significant safety concerns they face, especially when traveling alone or at night.
What it does
SafeGuard is a mobile app designed to provide women with an emergency alert system. It allows users to quickly notify their trusted contacts of their location and request assistance in emergencies. Features include real-time location tracking, voice activation for alerts, customizable safety profiles, and access to community resources.
How we built it
Our strategy for building SafeGuard revolves around creating intuitive user interfaces and implementing robust back-end systems. Key technologies we intend to utilize include: Geo-location for Real-Time Tracking: Enabling accurate location updates during emergencies. Messaging Integration: Facilitating quick alert notifications to trusted contacts. Voice Activation: Allowing hands-free operation for sending alerts, ensuring ease of use in critical situations. By focusing on these technologies and design principles, we aim to develop a seamless and effective safety solution for women.
Challenges we ran into
Since we are only in the first round of the hackathon , we don't have any challenges but we do anticipate some challenges . Those are :Technical Integration: Ensuring seamless integration of geolocation and messaging features. User Experience: Designing an intuitive interface for quick access during emergencies. Security Measures: Implementing robust data security measures to protect user information.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Concept Development: Successfully defining the vision and scope of SafeGuard to address women's safety concerns. Team Collaboration: Effective teamwork in brainstorming ideas and outlining the project's roadmap. Technical Preparation: Initial research and planning stages completed, setting a solid foundation for development.
What we learned
User Needs Analysis: Gaining insights through preliminary surveys to understand the safety challenges faced by women. Technological Exploration: Exploring and selecting appropriate technologies like geolocation and voice activation for the app. Hackathon Experience: Learning to streamline ideas and present them effectively in a competitive environment.
What's next for SafeGuard
Our next steps involve conducting user surveys to refine our understanding of user needs, developing a prototype with essential features, and preparing for initial testing to gather feedback for further iterations.
