Rootstory Evidence Agent is live
I built and deployed the first complete evidence-audit workflow for Rootstory.
The agent can now:
- Audit an entire family tree for unsupported people and missing facts
- Plan and prioritize independent research tasks
- Research with Gemini 3.5 Flash and Google Search grounding
- Preserve progress asynchronously with Cloud Tasks and Firestore
- Verify sources before creating repair proposals
- Explain the exact person and field each proposal affects
- Let the owner review discoveries gradually and apply only selected evidence
- Restore unfinished audits across browser sessions
The backend is running on Cloud Run, while Rootstory provides the human review experience through Firebase Hosting.
An important design boundary: Gemini researches and proposes, but it cannot directly modify the family tree. The verifier gates the evidence, the family decides, and only approved fields are applied.
