Inspiration
The project was inspired by CJ's grandmother who has Alzheimer's and likes to reminisce on past memories through photos.
What it does
RMBR is a creative outlet where the elderly can record and revisit their memories through photos, audio, and descriptions.
How we built it
The project was ideated, wireframed, designed, and prototyped using a combination of Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator, and Lightroom.
Challenges we ran into
Putting ourselves into the shoes of the elderly and designing an interface that is not only efficient but also accessible
Issues we ran into • Using animations to make navigation meaningful and straightforward ( making the navigation obvious) •Needing to compromise since we couldn't add sounds but we relied on animations to make it work •Making sure fonts are big enough to read users who have visual impairments • How to implement the features in an understandable way ie adding photos, typing, and recording audio
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We don't have much hackathon experience but we're proud of our ability to prototype and design an entire app. We also collaborated very well and made compromises that allowed us to fill any gaps or questions in our project.
What we learned
We learned how to make good use of figma plugins to save time and elevate our designs. We also considered understanding how to differentiate things that are necessary or unnecessary as features in an app. We were also able to work efficiently since we communicated our ideas with an open mind and would either compromise or combine our ideas to create a solution.
What's next for RMBR (Recollections of My Beautiful Reality)
Possibly having sharing options and having it somewhat restricted to keep the users safe from scams and having their personal information compromised. We would also like to implement a guardian mode which would serve the purpose of monitoring their posted content in case of an accident, and also adding more features where they can express their creativity ie drawing, notifications reminding them to post, and using filters.
