The U.S. healthcare system is outdated, relying on long phone calls, excessive paperwork, and frustrating wait times. Many patients struggle to book appointments, especially those with limited English proficiency. With some patients waiting weeks to see a doctor, we wanted to create a modern, user-friendly solution that simplifies the process and removes unnecessary barriers.
QK-Aid allows users to quickly find and book medical appointments without long calls or administrative delays. The app provides a self-diagnosis tool through a chatbot and search engine, helping users identify potential conditions before connecting them with specialists. Users can filter doctors by specialty, price, location, language proficiency, and ratings. Once an appointment is booked, they receive a QR code for seamless check-in—eliminating paperwork and reducing hospital wait times.
We designed QK-Aid with simplicity and accessibility in mind, using a clean and intuitive interface. Our team focused on user experience, ensuring that even non-English speakers and elderly patients could navigate the app easily. The chatbot and search engine were implemented to assist users in identifying symptoms and finding the right doctor quickly.
One of the biggest challenges was designing a solution that caters to diverse users, including those unfamiliar with digital tools. We also had to ensure the self-diagnosis feature provided helpful guidance without misdiagnosing conditions. Finding the right balance between functionality and simplicity was crucial to making the app user-friendly.
We’re proud of creating a healthcare solution that removes frustrating barriers to care. Our app eliminates long phone wait times, streamlines the booking process, and provides seamless check-in at hospitals. By making healthcare more accessible, we are helping patients receive care faster and more efficiently.
This project taught us the impact of administrative inefficiencies on healthcare accessibility. We gained valuable insights into user-friendly design, especially for non-tech-savvy users. Most importantly, we learned how removing unnecessary steps can significantly improve access to medical care.
What's Next for QK-Aid We plan to expand QK-Aid by integrating real-time doctor availability. Partnering with hospitals and clinics to implement our QR-based check-in system on a larger scale is also a key goal. Ultimately, we aim to revolutionize healthcare access, making it as simple as booking a ride or ordering food online.
