Progression of Existing Application "MetaTrail"

We are sorry to tell you that we did not manage to implement the planned project "MetaVote" which was planned as a Blockchain Voting application for Eth Conferences in the future.

Inspiration Our inspiration stemmed from the challenges we faced with voting systems at events like EthPrague 2022, EthPrague 2023, and SpagETH (Milan). These systems were flawed, allowing multiple votes from a single participant or causing participants to lose their voting power via "QR-Codes". To address these issues, we initially aimed to create "MetaVote", a voting application designed to provide a secure and user-friendly voting experience using our "Leaf-Wallet" paradigm.

What it does While our initial focus was on "MetaVote", we pivoted to refining "MetaTrail", an application akin to "Pokemon-Go" but centered around "Geocaching". This involves users leaving hidden messages in real-world locations, complete with hints, pointers, riddles, and directions, creating a global game. To combat the challenges of physical caches being stolen or damaged, we store these messages on the blockchain, ensuring their preservation for future generations.

How we built it Over a span of three days, we evolved "MetaTrail" from a "prototype-alpha" stage to a functional product. We enhanced its location detection, visuals, and user interactions. We integrated AI for solution-building and text generation, developed a sophisticated algorithm for precise location detection, and actively engaged with the EthWarsaw community. Our product, "MetaTrail", is built as an ember application, and we've provided extensive resources on our website to guide users.

Challenges we ran into A primary challenge was the prevalent issues with physical geocaches being susceptible to theft, damage from weather conditions, or vandalism. Additionally, the pivot from our initial plan of "MetaVote" to refining "MetaTrail" required a significant shift in focus and resources.

Accomplishments that we're proud of We're proud of the significant advancements made with "MetaTrail", especially its transformation from a prototype to a usable product in just three days. The integration of AI, the development of a precise location detection algorithm, and our proactive engagement with the EthWarsaw community are notable achievements. Additionally, our "Leaf-Wallet" paradigm, designed to streamline interactions with mobile dapps, is a significant contribution to the space.

What we learned We learned the importance of adaptability and the potential of blockchain technology in preserving real-world experiences. The experience also underscored the value of community engagement in refining and promoting a product and the potential of paradigms like "Leaf-Wallet" in enhancing user experience.

What's next for Progression of Existing Application "MetaTrail" We plan to continue refining and expanding "MetaTrail", leveraging feedback and experiences from this hackathon. Additionally, we're optimistic about introducing "MetaVote" at the next EthWarsaw, enriched with the insights gained from this experience. We're also eager to further discuss and promote the "Leaf-Wallet" paradigm, which we believe can revolutionize the way users interact with mobile dapps.
