Inspiration
Wildlife trafficking is the 4th biggest crime in the world. It threatens national security, economic prosperity, and the rule of law; pushes species to the brink of extinction, and spreads diseases. Thus, we need to raise public awareness so that everyone understands why wildlife conservation is such an important and imperative issue. Currently, there are many existing propaganda websites but communities about protecting wildlife are few and far between. And that is our motivation behind this project.
What it does
Planetina is a website that includes various functions. It can be a blog where people can connect and study from experienced specialists. It can also be a place for everyone to share information and discuss about wildlife ecosystems. Furthermore, Planetina provides fundamental knowledge about endangered species, it calls for donations for organizations and individuals that are active in protecting animals in need, and reports dangerous sources which harm them.
How we built it
We have built this website using HTML, CSS and Javascript. We also have designed the logo and some images ourselves using PaintTool SAI, Adobe Illustrator.
Challenges we ran into
One of the main difficulties faced by our team was collecting and formatting data that fits our purpose. Also, we are still inexperienced and therefore had to cope with time management problems and technical issues.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are really proud that we were able to accomplish almost all of the tasks that we have initially decided with a great team effort. We have managed to overcome all obstacles to create a platform that can be used by everyone to help save endangered animals.
What we learned
By this challenge, we have come to know many facts about wildlife trafficking and how emerging technologies can be helpful to raise awareness and reduce the crimes to help wildlife trafficking.
What's next for Planetina
If our project succeed, we can further develop it into an official platform. Moreover, the potential of Planetina is promising. We plan to connect with major financial operations all around the world in order to raise money to fund for our project. We can use those funds to promote our project to a global scale, so Vietnam can be one of the leading developing country in protecting wildlife animals.
