Inspiration
Our inspiration for this project came from the opening ceremony when aerospace engineer Farah Alibay spoke about the importance of calculating when Mars would be closest to Earth to create the most efficient Mars mission. We want to solve the issue of getting more kids, especially girls into stem – so we created an educational project.
What it does
Planet Her is an interactive website that connects you to information about our solar system. If you click on a specific planet, you will be directed to a new webpage that provides more information.
How we built it
Our team used repl.it as our collaborative online IDE to use HTML and CSS for the website.
Challenges we ran into
As this was our first time trying web-dev, we faced issues regarding formatting and learning new languages.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our aesthetic of the website and how it connects with our inspiration for the project.
What we learned
We learned to be resourceful, finding websites to learn web-dev and tools to create the planets on the website.
What's next for PlanetHer
Every entity in space will have its own resource page. Additionally, we would like to create a more robust information page for each planet.
