Inspiration
I always forget what I ate the last time I visited any particular location.
What it does
Keeps track of all the places you visit, what you had to eat and drink, and can even show you the weather forecast. Rainy day? Might not be the best for that outdoor restaurant.
How we built it
I used SwiftUI and SwiftData to store the items you save.
Challenges we ran into
There were quite a few listed here on this #buildinpublic thread. Scroll from the bottom up to not lose the history: https://techhub.social/@JTostitos/113111024068917868
Some posts even have some helpful replies to some of the issues I was experiencing.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Learning and using some new Swift frameworks like async await, SwiftData to name a few.
What we learned
Sometimes, trying to be flashy with the UI can cause some usability problems - ScrollView Transition API's. So toned that down and made something that would be easier to use. Learned that I could inspect a Map() View and still get the same great animations that Apple did in their sample projects. Also, that while I wanted to do much more with this project, sometimes you have to take a step back and start somewhere small first. Constantly waiting for a 1.0 before release, means you'll miss out on an opportunity to get feedback from others.
