Inspiration: Inspired to solve issues with party safety and peer pressure leading to drug abuse. We witnessed and heard that these issues occured during Picnic Day 2025, and we wanted to address them.
PartyPal provides features like maps for locating Narcane and other safety features and sobriety filters to help people stay safe and make smart decisions when partying
PartyPal was built with React Native + Expo for fast, cross-platform development. We used Supabase as our backend to handle real-time event data and easy API integration. React Native Maps powered our geolocation features, letting us render pins and filters directly on the Davis map. We wrote the app in TypeScript for safer, more reliable code. To enhance UX, we designed a custom icon-based filter system with toggleable visuals, making it easy for users to spot safe and relevant events at a glance.
Time is always a challenge for Hackathons but we pulled through with 2 UX Designers and 1 Fullstack Developer
We are proud of our User Research, UI Design, and our Creative App Idea.
We learned how to work well on a cross-functional team.
We will continue this project after the hackathon :)
