Inspiration
Help high risk individuals by giving quantifiable data that will encourage interaction with this application
What it does
Gives the user access to simplified data about their community in regards to health risk based on nearby user input using the app. Our project simulates this with an interactive map and feedback system.
How we built it
Our code is mostly composed of JavaScript, TypeScript and uses Gemini for AI feedback and leaflet OpenStreetMap for the interactive map simulator.
Challenges we ran into
Our difficulties were focused around how to give users a reason to interact with outbreaksnearme.org in a way that uses the websites own strengths to give a viable product that is worth real value to the user.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We feels as though this is a very simple and approachable form of software that is easily adaptable to real databases, and is a valuable idea that is digestible and impactful.
What we learned
We learned A LOT about API's and and AI implementation towards projects of this nature.
What's next for Outbreak Risk Monitor
This product is very open ended in its implementation. AI can further be expanded on to better data including population factoring, actively spreading illness, and more precise risk factors.
