Inspiration

Justice should not depend on how much you earn, where you live, or whether you have internet. In Bangladesh, and in many other countries, ordinary people often don't know their legal rights, can't afford to ask a lawyer "just to understand," and don't know which court to go to. Many give up before they even begin.

We asked ourselves: "what if everyone had a companion to guide them through their first step toward justice?" That idea became NyayaSathi, where "Nyaya" means justice and "Sathi" means companion.

What it does

NyayaSathi is a complete legal access platform:

  • "AI Legal Help Chatbot": explains legal problems, rights, and next steps in simple language.
  • "Secure Profile": users store important documents and evidence in one place.
  • "Aidmap": find lawyers by specialization and locate nearby courts.
  • "Offline SMS Support": [reach legal guidance by text message, even without internet].
  • "Law Library & FAQ": [simple access to legal books, PDFs, and common questions].

How we built it

We built NyayaSathi in a single day during the hackathon.

  • "Frontend:" [React / Flutter / HTML-CSS-JS]
  • "Backend & Database:" [Firebase / Node.js / Supabase]
  • "AI Chatbot:" [Claude API / other LLM], with a prompt designed to give simple, safe, general legal information
  • "Maps:" [Google Maps API / Leaflet + OpenStreetMap] for the lawyer and court finder
  • "SMS:" [Twilio / other SMS gateway]

We split the work into four parts (authentication, chatbot, profile storage, and Aidmap) and integrated them into one project.

Challenges we ran into

  • "Time:" we had only 8 hours, so we focused on the core features and left the rest on our roadmap.
  • "Responsible AI" legal advice is sensitive. We had to make the chatbot explain clearly without pretending to replace a real lawyer.
  • "Simple language:" turning complicated legal terms into something anyone can understand.
  • "Connecting everything:" making chatbot, storage, and maps work smoothly as one product.
  • [Add your own real challenge here, e.g. an API bug or a deployment problem.]

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • A working end-to-end prototype built in under 8 hours
  • A product designed for people who are often left out: low-income, rural, and offline users
  • [Add something specific from your demo]

What we learned

  • How to design AI responses for a high-stakes domain
  • How to prioritize ruthlessly under a deadline
  • That accessibility is a design decision, not an afterthought
  • [Add your own technical learning]

What's next for NyayaSathi

  • "Online Dispute Resolution (ODR)" and "AI-assisted Mobile Courts"
  • "Court-date alarms" (when, where, and which lawyer)
  • "Lawyer profiles" and verified reviews
  • "Statistics dashboard" for legal-aid trends
  • Support for "Bangla" and regional languages

NyayaSathi is more than an app. It is a companion for every person who needs justice and doesn't know where to begin.
