Inspiration
As a traveller, resident or explorer, it's often hard to know what's happening locally and precisely where. It's even harder to start a conversation with those people. This progressive web app aims to solve this issue, with a location based thread style social media platform.
What it does
View conversations, threads and news based on a map. Visit Australia and see what's happening over there. Or just browse your local area, at specific locations to check out what's happening. See a huge red patch? That means there's a lot of activity going on there. Search for the best content visually and explore the world as we know it.
How we built it
React framework. Using Open Street Maps, Leaflet API and heatmaps library.
Challenges we ran into
It was a learning experience for all of us. We learnt a lot. For many of us, we did not know much about the React framework and much of the time was spent teaching others. It was worth it, however!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The heat maps were pretty cool.
What we learned
We learnt that team matters.
What's next for News Radar
