Inspiration

Our group was very able to empathize with this topic. When we saw this topic we could all remember some of the problems we faced when entering a new environment. When we are unfamiliar with a new place, we think that what we need most is someone who knows the rules and the environment to guide us. So we got the idea of this app to link newcomers and local guides. When designing this app, we got inspired by some traveling apps and also dating apps.

What it does

So this app opens the door for newcomers to meet local people who are willing to help them. When you come to a new place, a new environment. Despite the research you've done before, there's going to be discomfort as well as all sorts of surprises. Our products will match you with a guide who will introduce you to the right one. You can choose to follow them randomly to any place, or according to your original plan, the guide will accompany you and help you better integrate into the place.

How we built it

We built it using Figma and also adobe illustrator. We went through double-diamond methods. We interviewed some people about this idea and got some positive feedback. We did some drafts of the design of logos and the wireframes by hand first. Then we choose among those solutions and find the one we think is the best. After that, we did the low-fidelity prototype first. And then we did some color studies and combined with the color of our logo, we made the color board. After that, we start to add letters, photos, and colors to the prototype.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge is that we are a team of three UI/UX Designers and it's our first year, so we don't have enough skill to do the coding part. Unfortunately, we didn't find someone who is good at programming to join our team, and we couldn't complete the app development and interaction in such a short time with our ability. So we decided to focus on the design of the user interface. We hope that in the future we will be able to incorporate more programming into our activities.

The other challenge is deciding which problem are we going to solve. Since we all count as newcomers in every sense of the word, the problems we find that need to be solved are numerous. Each problem seems to be very important, which makes it hard to choose. We managed to solve the problem. Our group liked the theme and found it very interesting!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Rapid Response and Creativity: Completing a user interface design and experience solution in a short period demonstrates our team's ability to respond quickly and showcase creativity.

Diversity Considerations: Considering the diverse backgrounds and identities of newcomers indicates that our team prioritized diversity in user research and design, providing a user-friendly experience for a broader audience.

Comprehensive Solution and Prototype: Providing a very comprehensive solution and prototype indicates that our team possesses high-level professional skills in design and development, offering users a thorough experience.

Prototyping Showcase: A successful prototype showcase indicates that our team not only operates at a theoretical level but can also materialize ideas and concepts into demonstrable product prototypes, crucial for project understanding and advancement.

What we learned

We benefited from this activity by mastering some figma tricks that we wouldn't have done before.

What's next for Newbee

Next, we will focus on writing and launching the program, and we will add more features to NewBee to make its user experience better. We will also enhance the marketing and promotion of NewBee, create a community of NewBee newcomers to help each other and make NewBee the trend symbol and the first app that most newcomers think of.
