Project – aegis vanguard

Idea derivation:

Through this project we are trying to address the threat of soldiers in Army and Military organizations. There are so many critical issues leading to threat on safety and security of the Military and Army organizations. Recently there was a war between Ukraine and Russia where nearly 2 lakh soldiers lost their lives. Also, in wars like Israel and Giza, India and China and Pakistan and India many soldiers lost their lives. We started researching about why many soldiers are losing their lives and then we got to know that there are no tech advancements and out-dated surveillance systems. The Army budget for modernization of armed forces is a shocking 6 lakh crore in India and $960 billion in US. Despite spending so much money on the safety and security of the territories there any so many causalities, injuries and deaths of soldiers. New inventions like the AI based Detection are there but they cost a lot for each one and it will stop sending information when it gets injured. The systems which use technologies like WIFI and Bluetooth are also being hacked. If there is a proper defense system linked with science and technology it can save many soldiers lives. Our project is mainly focused on the safety and security of the soldiers and protecting the territories. That is why we name our project Aegis Vanguard.

Use of the project:

The primary purpose of this project is to monitor and secure the territories and borders without the need of a soldier to be physically present in the field. In this way, lives of many soldiers can be saved. We also aim to support multi-national companies such as Tata, Infosys, Wipro, and Adani by providing our technically advanced project which can surveillance and protect any unauthorized access to their server rooms and offices without the need of expensive cameras and security protocols. This project is very cost effective for both the military and corporate sector.

Idea:

We have designed a smart moving hovercraft with various technologies. We used new technology which cannot be tackled easily called ESP-NOW. This is a protocol by the Espressif system which can communicate with two ESP- development boards. We used AI based detection system through the ESP-32 cam, this recognizes people, objects and spaces.

Mission:

To save the lives of all army personnel by reducing the human activity in defence sector

Vision:

This project is designed to safeguard the safety, security and interests of the country in a cost efficient manner supporting the growth of the economy.

Working:

We can control the RC Hovercraft using the ESP-NOW protocol, while simultaneously transmitting information. If a foreign object is detected, the system measures and analyzes it, sending the data to monitoring authorities, who can then take action based on the details provided. In such cases, the drone launches surveillance. If an enemy is detected, the GPS coordinates are used to lock onto the target for missile guidance. Additionally, a robotic arm is deployed to safely dispose of any detected bombs."

Technologies Used:

ESP-NOW WIFI Aeronautics Graphics GPS Hydrodynamics Control System

ESP NOW:

ESP-NOW operates at the data-link layer of the OSI (Open System Interconnection) model, simplifying the communication stack and reducing overhead. Devices are pre-configured to communicate directly with each other, eliminating the need for handshakes and further reducing latency.

Wireless Signals: Wi-Fi uses radio waves to transmit data between devices.

Access Point (AP): Typically, a Wi-Fi router acts as an access point that broadcasts wireless signals.

Connection: Devices equipped with Wi-Fi capability can detect these signals and connect to the network.

Data Transmission: Once connected, data is exchanged between the device and the internet through the router.

Advantage:

Convenience: Enables wireless connectivity without the need for cables.

Mobility: Allows users to move around freely while staying connected.

Scalability: Easy to add more devices to the network.

Aeronautics:

Aeronautics include controlling the pitch and flight direction and altitude of the drone using avionics which helps in automatic navigation, communication is established by wifi.

Include material science which allow us to find and use lightweight and light dense material so that the drone power consumption is low and the drone can attain great height without missing on stability control

Include Aerodynamics, which defines to use narrow shapes to cut through the air and directs the airflow for efficient use of the power produced by drone motor.

Display Technology:

LCD (Liquid Crystal Display)

How It Works: Uses liquid crystals sandwiched between two layers of glass or plastic. When an electric current passes through, the crystals align to allow light to pass through or block it, creating images.

Advantages: Lightweight, energy-efficient, and produces sharp images. GPS:

GPS is key to our army project, helping everything work together, stay accurate, and track real-time events. It guides the car/hovercraft along safe paths and helps the drone take off, land, and watch areas. The AI-powered ESP32-Cam uses GPS to track enemy locations and prioritize threats. The robotic arm uses GPS to safely defuse or destroy bombs. GPS helps make precise attacks, reducing damage, and sends emergency coordinates for backup. GPS data from all units forms a battlefield map for better decisions, and backup systems ensure the project works in tough conditions.

Robotic Arm:

The robotic arm is a key part of our army project, designed to handle dangerous tasks like bomb defusal without putting soldiers at risk. It works with the AI-powered ESP32-cam and radar to safely handle bombs, adjusting its grip or cutting tools based on the type of bomb. The arm can also help with reconnaissance, moving objects, or even breaching structures. Its GPS tracks its location and sends updates to the command centre for coordination and analysis. In combat, the arm can enable jammers or set up weapons. If a bomb can't be defused, it can trigger a controlled explosion using GPS to limit damage. Built to work in tough environments and equipped with sensors for stability, the arm can operate without GPS in some areas. Its design allows for future upgrades, making it a easy and safe tool that improves operations and helps protect lives.

Hovercraft:

Using a hovercraft in our army project gives unmatched flexibility. It can move across water, swamps, ice, and rough areas, making it harder to track and catch. The car’s design helps it launch and recover drones or work with the robotic arm, even on uneven ground or water. It can avoid roadblocks, landmines, and damaged areas, allowing for surprise attacks while carrying extra gear like drones, sensors, or weapons. It’s immune to tire punctures and bombs under the body, so it works safely in dangerous areas like IED zones. The car can be used anywhere, from floods to deserts, and its movements make it unpredictable to the enemy. With ESP-NOW, AI cameras, and GPS, it can change its route based on real-time information, creating a flexible and strong system for future missions.

AI Powered ESP-32 Cam:

The AI-powered ESP32-Cam in our army project acts as the "intelligent eyes," helping to detect objects, identify enemies, and make quick decisions. It uses machine learning to analyse live video and tells apart friendly and enemy targets, like soldiers, vehicles, or drones. It also spots threats such as armed people or suspicious objects. The camera works with the radar system to match objects with their GPS locations, helping prioritize threats and trigger responses, like alerting the robotic arm to defuse a bomb or sending a drone to watch an area. The camera quickly shares data with the car and command centre, allowing for route changes or strikes. It can work in low light or noisy environments and even if there’s no internet connection. By combining quick decisions with safety rules, the AI camera reduces risks, protects soldiers, and turns information into useful battlefield intelligence.

Auto Aiming System The auto aiming system is used to automatically aim at enemies without needing a person to control it directly. It works using the AI camera and GPS to detect where an enemy is and then locks on to that target. Once the target is found, the system follows its movement and adjusts the aim if the enemy moves. This is helpful in saving time and making sure the attack is accurate. It can also reduce human mistakes during stressful situations like combat. This system can guide drones, missiles, or even robotic arms to respond quickly and correctly to threats.

AR Technology AR (Augmented Reality) adds digital information on top of what you see in the real world. In our project, AR helps soldiers or operators see important things like enemy locations, GPS maps, radar signals, and camera views on a screen or smart glasses. This means they don’t have to switch between different devices or maps — all the information appears in front of them in real time. This makes it easier and faster to understand what’s happening and make the right decisions. AR can also be used for training soldiers in a safe and realistic way by showing virtual scenarios.

3D Technology 3D technology helps us create realistic models of the environment, objects, and battlefield using data from GPS, cameras, and radar. This allows us to make 3D maps that show the area around the hovercraft or drone, including buildings, roads, obstacles, or enemies. These 3D views help the system plan safe paths and avoid danger. We also use 3D models during the building and testing stages of the project — like designing the robotic arm or hovercraft — to see how things will work before we build them. In operations, 3D views help the control team understand the situation better and make smarter plans.

Automated Drone:

The automated drone in our project helps with surveillance, reconnaissance, and tactical operations. It uses AI and real-time data to dominate the battlefield. Like the car, it’s equipped with the AI-powered ESP32-Cam to scan large areas, track enemy movements, and spot hidden threats like camouflaged units or bombs. The drone can follow set routes or change paths if it detects something unusual. It launches quickly from the car to respond to alerts or assist during bomb defusal, sending live footage to the command center for quick decisions. The drone also helps by mapping terrain for navigation, dropping payloads, or acting as a decoy to confuse enemies. Its AI works with the robotic arm and car systems for coordinated attacks. With night vision and thermal imaging, it operates day and night, and multiple drones can work together to create a surveillance net. The drone reduces soldier risk, speeds up threat neutralization, and extends the project’s reach in difficult airspace, making it essential for reconnaissance and combat.

Uses Of having a Drone in Aegis Vanguard:

The drone can give extra security in an emergency situation. The drone can have a surveillance eye when the car is out of battery and the hovercraft can tow the drone if the drone does not have the battery which it needs .This advantage gives a large strength to the project and as the Drone is situated on top of the hovercraft which means in time where the hovercraft can not go the drone has the surveillance on the place and this positioning gives the project more efficiency

Radar with Display:

The ultrasonic radar system in your project helps detect objects and measure their distance, ensuring safety and precision. It uses high-frequency sound waves to find nearby objects (whether enemy or neutral) and calculates the distance based on the time it takes for the sound to bounce back. This data is processed by a microcontroller (like an Arduino or ESP32) and shown on an LCD screen, displaying live distance info and status alerts. This helps operators or autonomous systems make quick decisions. When paired with the AI-powered ESP32-Cam, the radar can also classify objects as friendly or hostile. If the radar detects a threat within a certain range, the system can automatically stop, reroute, or activate defense systems like a robotic arm for bomb defusal or an attack system. The LCD screen provides quick updates to field operators without needing wireless networks. The radar is simple, low-power, and works even in GPS-denied or jammed environments. It can share detected threat coordinates across the network using ESP-NOW and GPS, allowing for coordinated responses like drone surveillance or strikes. The radar is all-weather (works in rain, dust, and fog) and has fail-safe features, ensuring safe operation during bomb disposal or troop engagements. It bridges the gap between raw sensor data and quick, actionable battlefield intelligence.
