Neighborhood Shenanigans was inspired by the creator’s real-life experiences growing up in a close urban community. From cleaning up litter to helping neighbors find lost items, the game mirrors the everyday moments and mischief of neighborhood life — with a fun, educational twist for both kids and adults.
Elevator Pitch
A kid-friendly mobile VR game where players explore a chaotic neighborhood, level up from resident to homeowner, earn money cleaning up, help neighbors, and dodge danger — all while chasing leaderboard glory.
What Inspired Me
The concept came from real childhood memories — the sense of adventure, responsibility, and connection found in everyday life. It blends classic community values with modern mobile gaming for an unforgettable experience.
What I Learned
I learned how to design a game world that’s both fun and educational, blending VR mechanics with real-life lessons. I also deepened my skills in scripting, UI design, and player interaction in Horizon Worlds.
How I Built My Project
The game was built using Horizon Worlds, with a focus on user-friendly code blocks and custom UI boards. I created stylized 3D assets, animated cutouts, and interactive zones to make the experience come alive.
Challenges I Faced
One challenge was making gameplay simple yet engaging for all ages. Balancing education with fun, and designing mechanics for mobile devices while keeping it immersive, took several iterations and feedback from testers.
What It Does
Players earn money and points by picking up trash, finding lost items, delivering pies, and avoiding hazards like speeding cars and killer bees. They level up from Resident to Homeowner and compete on leaderboards for weekly prizes.
What's Next for Neighborhood Shenanigans
We’re adding new neighborhoods, more mini-games (like curb ball and bike chases), player customization, and monthly events. Long-term, we plan to launch an in-game store and expand multiplayer features.
