Inspiration
As a child, I was always fascinated by fantasy worlds, imagining myself as a brave warrior, a mighty wizard, or an adventurer embarking on epic quests. But growing up, I noticed how easily that spirit of imagination fades. Many people, including myself at times, fall into patterns of sedentary lifestyles, excessive screen time, gaming, and social withdrawal. This often replaces the playful, adventurous spirit we once had. I wanted to change that. I wanted to create something that merges the excitement of fantasy gaming with real-life wellness and productivity. That led to the idea of Mythic Quest - an app that transforms everyday life into an adventure game.
What it does
Mythic Quest is a gamified wellness and social platform that encourages users to engage with the real world while living out a fantasy adventure. Users take on quests like visiting parks, libraries, gyms, or completing healthy habits such as walking, exercising, or journaling. Completing quests rewards experience points, coins, and achievements, allowing users to level up their character. The app features a live adventure map with GPS tracking, a quest log, a hero’s hall where users can post achievements and media, a shopping marketplace, and AI-generated weekly story chronicles based on user progress. Voice guidance using AI further enhances the immersive experience.
How I built it
The app was built entirely using Bolt.new. I used Supabase for backend services, including authentication, storage, and databases to persist user data like quests, achievements, messages, and progress. For the voice AI, I integrated ElevenLabs API, which dynamically generates a wizard-like voice that greets users and provides quest updates. The weekly story chronicles are powered by Claude AI, which creates personalized narratives based on each user’s activity. I deployed the app on Netlify for public access. I also designed and integrated 3D avatars using Mixamo animations, exported them as GLB models, and embedded them into the app to replace static images, creating a dynamic and engaging experience.
Challenges I ran into
I faced significant challenges while getting persistent authentication and data storage to work reliably with Supabase. Syncing user progress, quests, and social interactions between sessions took extensive debugging. Getting 3D models from Mixamo to animate correctly in the web app was another hurdle, especially preserving animations during the FBX to GLB conversion. The Bolt environment also presented token limitations, leading me to optimize the code using ignore files and modular designs. Voice integration required handling API limitations while synchronizing audio with UI actions. Despite these challenges, I was able to solve each one and successfully deliver a polished product.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I’m proud of transforming a complex idea into a fully functional application within a limited time frame. Achieving a seamless integration of GPS-based quests, AI-driven weekly story chronicles, and voice-guided interactions is something I consider a significant accomplishment. I also successfully designed a fully functional user authentication system tied to Supabase and created social systems like friend requests, messaging, and community feeds. Deploying a full-stack app that combines wellness, gaming, AI, and 3D animation is a milestone I’m particularly proud of.
What I learned
I learned how to work deeply with Bolt.new beyond its basic capabilities, including managing token limits, structuring large projects, and integrating third-party APIs. I became proficient in Supabase for handling databases, authentication, and file storage. I gained experience in working with 3D web assets, understanding the pipeline from animation software like Mixamo to web-compatible formats. I also learned to efficiently integrate AI services such as ElevenLabs for voice synthesis and Claude for text generation into a functional app. The project taught me valuable lessons about deploying full-stack applications, handling state management, and designing a user-centered experience.
What's next for Mythic Quest
In the future, I plan to expand Mythic Quest into mobile apps with full support for in-app subscriptions using RevenueCat. The marketplace will move from placeholder products to real brand partnerships offering discounts on wellness-related gear. I want to expand the AI storytelling into more complex, lore-driven chapters with character arcs and seasonal events. There are also plans to introduce leaderboards, community-driven quests, and reward systems that blend physical, mental, and social wellness. If supported with funding, I would like to scale the platform, improve the UI/UX further, optimize the 3D experience, and turn Mythic Quest into a global wellness platform gamified through the lens of fantasy adventure.
