Inspiration
Preserve local identity. Stimulate participation. Include everyone. Meet the MunichBox!
How it works
The MunichBox shapes communities, helps creating local events, is a sustainable way to maintain culture and accomplishes awareness. Each neighborhood has their own unique MunichBox, which reflects the local community and architecture. The box provides information on local events to foster local ties and community. It displays selected data specific to the local area to create a common identity. It is a place for residents, tourists and new citizens to explore and discover the local region. Language translation, auditory feedback and open spaces make it accessible to everyone. Therefore, the MunichBox becomes a central local meeting point creating a common identity.
How we built it
We exemplified designs on three different real life situations (Werksviertel, Odeonsplatz, Garching Campus), leveraged the Indikatoratllas, built the backend with MongoDB in python and flask, and designed the frontend with react.
Challenges we ran into
We had limited experience in frontend development and invested much time to integrate all our expertise (computer science, mathematics, architecture).
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We all come from different backgrounds and embarked on a journey together. We helped each other out and developed a viable product by pushing ourselves and our boundaries to the limit.
What's next for Munich Box
Make things happen. Build a first prototype. Talk to the city of Munich.
