Inspiration
My head is always full of stories. As I learned new AI tools, I realized it felt like building a new world from scratch—so why not revisit the oldest legends and the origin stories of our world? In creating this project, I drew inspiration from creation myths and Michelangelo’s paintings—though with a playful twist—as well as from various films and stories about space and mysterious scientific missions.
What it does
Moon Book shows that even the stories we can’t prove are worth telling again and again—and they don’t always need to be taken too seriously.
How I built it
I used ChatGPT to gather scientific facts and real astronomical events that could support the fictional idea of the Moon as a device recording Earth’s history. One example is the real incident of the Apollo mission tapes being overwritten. It’s also true that lunar regolith carries traces of cosmic events from deep time. With the narrative sketched out, I generated the characters in Midjourney—each in multiple outfits, both portraits and full-body shots, to maintain consistency. Then I created the storyboard scenes, refining them in Adobe Photoshop, and added motion using Runway and Veo 3. Finally, the music: I wrote the lyrics myself, and composed the song using Suno and ElevenLabs. Editing was done in iMovie
Challenges we ran into
The main challenges were prompt budget—and managing hallucinations.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I’m proud of how natural the characters feel, how consistent their personalities are, and—importantly—that I managed to animate a worm inside an apple and make it sing.
What I learned
I explored ElevenLabs and Veo 3 through Runway. And for the first time, I used Act-Two to animate the worm.
What's next for Moon Book
I want to write the full screenplay. Ultimately, I’d love to produce the entire film.
