Inspiration
We have experienced how challenging social distancing and self-isolation can be like and imagine it to be worse for certain groups of people for example singles, people within the risk group and especially those with pre-existing mental health conditions as they have a high chance of struggling with stress, anxiety, isolation and depression. Since it is also currently unknown but speculated that a lockdown may be prolonged for several months, we are convinced that a platform such as Mental Care Advisor would be able to support our citizens. We must be prepared for times of prolonged isolation so we come out of this mentally healthy and ready to live normally again. This would also help decrease the possibility of national outbreaks of mental health cases.
What it does
The Mental Care Advisor is an all-in-one solution to tackle these problems by providing means to connect with others, find resources to build mental resilience as well as a strong foundation to stand this true test of time. At the core of this platform are verified psychology students who can directly identify a patient’s problem via chat, voice and video calls and possibly support them by offering additional resources, for example recommending a professional. By participating in the MCA community, we want to offer users the possibility to help each other even further by sharing experiences. The service will also be available as a mobile app and is planned to be free of charge to increase the likelihood of it being widely used.
How we built it
- There's a designer and a web developer in the team (Illustrator, HTML/CSS, js, php)
- Google and OneDrive as a common storage for the team
